Former England International and Kent stalwart, Rob Key, termed Virat Kohli as the best white-ball batsman, the game of cricket has ever seen. Key went on to claim that VK, at this rate, would surpass Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar easily.
In the last couple of years, Kohli has gone from strength to strength in ODI cricket, hitting tons at will, finishing matches for India.
VK scored 739 runs at an average of 92.37 last year and has already amassed 1347 runs in 2017 at 74.83, notching five centuries and seven half-centuries in the process. He now has 8917 at 55.38 from just 201 matches.
“He is comfortably the best white-ball batsman there has ever been. People can throw Viv Richards, Sachin himself and Brian Lara in there but Kohli, he’s just the best,” claimed Rob key according to his interview with Star Sports,
“Yes, I think he can [surpass Tendulkar’s record in ODIs]. He’s a freak really. He’ll never catch him [Tendulkar] in Test cricket but in ODI cricket, I think he’ll end up with more,” further added Key.

With his knock of 121 against New Zealand at Mumbai, Virat Kohli surpassed Ricky Ponting in the tally of ODI centuries with 31 centuries to his name. He is now only behind Sachin Tendulkar who has a momentous 49 tons.
“He [Kohli] is just phenomenal and he does it in as textbook way as you could wish. You could actually watch the way he bats in one-day cricket and learn how to play in Test cricket,” revealed the 38-year-old. Key, then, stressed on the manner by which he brings up his runs, without playing fancy shots and sticking to conventions.
“No one comes close to him and he does it without doing anything extraordinary, there are no reverse ramps, reverse sweeps or anything like that,” concluded Key.
