Robin Singh, S Sriram named coaches in T20 Global League

Former Indian cricketers S Sriram and Robin Singh are all set to take up the coaching roles in the upcoming inaugural edition of the T20 Global League. While S Sriram is set to coach the Joburg Giants, Robin Singh will be seen heading the coaching responsibilities of Bloem City Blazers. The tournament will roll out in the first week of November and conclude in mid December.
T20 Global League is expected to be run on the lines of popular T20 leagues like the Indian Premier League and the Big Bash League. There will be 8 participating franchises. In the last few days, the 8 franchises have launched their team names and team logos. On August 23, the Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced the names of the coaches of the 8 teams participating in the first edition of the tournament.
The naming of the coaches has taken place a week prior to the auction drafts that will take place at Cape Town. More than 400 players – both local and international – are expected to be a part of the auction draftt. As per the reports in the Wisden India, the other coaches include: Graeme Smith (Benoni Zalmi), Jacques Kallis (Cape Town Knight Riders), Paddy Upton (Durban Qalandars), Mark Boucher (Nelson Mandela Bay Stars, Russell Domingo (Pretoria Mavericks), and Stephen Fleming (Stellenbosch Monarchs).
Veterans in their role
Talking about S Sriram, the coach of the Joburg Giants, the former left arm spinner has played 8 ODIs for team India. He is currently serving the Australian team in the capacity of the spin consultant on their tour of Bangladesh. He had earlier served in the same role for the Aussie team during their tour to India earlier this year. On the other hand, Robin Singh, the coach of the Bloem City Blazers, the former cricketer has played 136 ODIs for the Indian team.
He has served in the role of the head coach fo India A. He had also coached the Deccan Chargers and the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. Apart from these, he has worked with the Khulna Titans in the Bangladesh Premier Leeague, Uva in the Sri Lanka Premier League, and Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League.
