"They wanted him to rest up and keep himself cherry ripe for the Champions Trophy. They don’t pick him and then they drop him from the contract,” he quoted.

Former Australian Rodney Hogg has come up with some bold statements about the Australian all-rounder James Faulkner. He went on to opine that Faulkner might never turn up in Australian colors again in his international career. Citing the reasons for the same, Hogg said that the fallout between him and the Cricket Australia (CA) has only caused the miscommunications between the two parties.

A few days earlier, James Faulkner was not handed the central contract with the Cricket Australia for the 2017-18 season. This came as a big surprise for many cricket pundits. Faulkner was one among the several surprise exclusions from the central contracts along with former T20I skipper George Bailey. As per the recent comments made by Rodney Hogg in the Sen.com.au, the chances of the all-rounder making a comeback is very bleak.

“You won’t see James Faulkner play for Australia again. He will go off and play T20 cricket. He is so disillusioned with the whole set up,” quoted Hogg.

Commenting further on the same note, Hogg remarked that the all-rounder had received a contract with Lancashire this year. However, the Australian board asked him not to join the team and work on his preparations for the Champions Trophy instead. But, much to his disappointment, he was not picked in the squad for the Champions Trophy 2017 either.

“Earlier in the year, Faulkner got a contract from Lancashire worth 120,000 pound to play some games prior to the Champions Trophy in June. He told Cricket Australia and they said no, you can’t do it. They wanted him to rest up and keep himself cherry ripe for the Champions Trophy. They don’t pick him and then they drop him from the contract,” quoted the former Australian pace bowler.

It was surprising to see Faulkner missing out on the central contract as well as being ignored for the Champions Trophy. The all-rounder is currently plying his trade in the Indian Premier League for the Gujarat Lions.
