Rohit Sharma becomes the second quickest to 150 sixes in ODIs
Sharma scored his 15th century of his ODI career.
Indian opening batsman Rohit Sharma has become the second quickest to 150 sixes in One-Day International cricket. He is currently playing in the third and final ODI of the series against New Zealand. Sharma has achieved the milestone in his 165th innings and 171st match. The first player in the special list is the former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi who reached 150 sixes in 160 innings.
The list also includes the likes of modern day legends in AB de Villiers and MS Dhoni. Only these 3 players of the top 12 are currently playing cricket and they also are most likely to reach 200 sixes given their prowess with the bat. Rohit is an exceptional player and he has rejuvenated his career since 2013 when he started to open the innings in the limited overs format. The list also includes Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum who took the game of cricket to another level. Sanath Jayasuriya also features who changed the face of cricket by his swashbuckling hitting in 1996 Cricket World Cup.
Kohli and Rohit piling on the agony
After being put into bat first, India lost the early wicket of Shikhar Dhawan in the crucial decider in Kanpur. But the skipper Virat Kohli and Sharma came together and consolidated first before taking on the Kiwi bowling. The flat track at Green Park is not helping the cause of the bowlers either as the Men in Blue are heading towards a gigantic total. Rohit has reached his 15th ton whereas Kohli is approaching his record 32nd century.
India has currently scored 257/1 after 41 overs and are looking to score as many as possible. Rohit Sharma is unbeaten on 145 off just 136 deliveries and his partner Kohli is not-out on 94 off 90 cherries. The likes of Hardik Pandya, MS Dhoni are yet to arrive and they will be eyeing a score of around 350 for sure on a flat deck to win another series at home.
