The yo-yo test has created a lot of buzz in the Indian cricketing fraternity currently. The dropping of Ambati Rayudu from the Indian squad for failing the test has irked many. All eyes were now on Rohit Sharma who delayed his fitness test even as Ajinkya Rahane was on standby for him ahead of the UK tour. However, he has managed to pass the test with flying colours and is set to face the upcoming challenge of Ireland and England later this month.

The likes of Rayudu, Sanju Samson and Mohammed Shami have already faced the wrath of not being able to clear the fitness test. While Shami was ruled out of the one-off Test match against Afghanistan, Samson lost his place from India A squad for the tour of England last week. However, the shockwaves were created when Rayudu was axed on the basis of yo-yo test results and many have raised their voices against the same.

Rohit’s Instagram update

Rohit Sharma informed the news of him passing the fitness test in his latest post on his official Instagram handle. He has managed to pass prescribed score of 16.1 in the test even as there were rumours of him failing the same a couple of days. But the vice-captain of Team India in the limited overs format has brought to rest all the speculations by clearing the test and will be itching to make a mark on the stern tour.

Rohit will be key to India’s fortunes as they will play the first T20I on June 27 and then on 29 against Ireland. The real test will begin for them from the first week of July with the three-match series in the shortest format of the game against England. They are also scheduled to play 3 One-Day Internationals starting from July 12.

This tour is important for Team India as the World Cup will be staged in the same country next year and they will be able to test themselves under those conditions.
