Rohit Sharma and Darren Bravo fined 15 percent match fees
The West Indies v India 3rd Test ended in favor of the hosts despite an entire day being washed out by rain. Virat Kohli let his batsmen bat for 9 overs on the last day before declaring the innings at 217/7. He gave his bowlers a minimum of 87 overs to bowl out the opposition to ensure the Indian team had an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series and exactly that happened. Mohammad Shami & Co. wrapped up the Windies batters in just 47.3 overs to win the game by 237 runs.
But there definitely was something happening along with the fall of wickets. Following the game, Darren Bravo of the West Indies and India’s Rohit Sharma were fined 15 percent of their match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct on the 5th day of the 3rd Test.
The players were found to be in violation of Level 1 Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game.”
Rohit was stationed at short leg and not just with the objective of holding onto the chances coming his way but also to keep chirping around as Darren Bravo played a resistant knock. Bravo was the only West Indian who managed to play an inning worth talking about while rest simply fell to the ploy set against them by the Indian bowlers. The umpires on multiple occasions instructed both Bravo and Sharma to stop their verbally exchange which wasn’t really in the spirit of the game but they kept going.

After the game, they were summoned by the match referee Ranjan Madugalle and they admitted the offences and accepted the sanctions and thus there was no formal hearing in the case. The charges against the duo were put by the on-field umpires Nigel Llong and Rod Tucker, as well as third umpire Gregory Brathwaite and fourth umpire Nigel Duguid.
As per the ICC Code of Conduct, all Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of just a warning while can be extended to a fine of maximum 50 per cent of the players match fee which is decided based on the seriousness of the offence.
