Rohit Sharma, who was born in Nagpur in a financially-weak family, has established himself as a fierce batter in One-Day Internationals with some excellent historic knocks. With those fiery performances and his power-hitting capability, he got the title ‘hitman.’ In the Indian Premier League (IPL), he is the most successful skipper as the veteran has bagged five trophies for his franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) with his spectacular leadership skills.

Witnessing his display as a skipper in the cash-rich league, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gave him the responsibility to lead the Indian cricket team in all formats. However, his journey from a Mumbai kid to the Indian cricket team’s captain was not easy as during his childhood days, he faced a lot of struggles. Rohit Sharma’s father Gurunath Sharma worked as a caretaker of a transport firm storehouse. When Rohit was two years old, Gurunath shifted to Dombivli, where he and his family lived in a single-room house. As Gurunath’s income was low, Rohit spent most of his childhood at his grandparents’ house.  

Rohit Sharma’s Mother 

Rohit Sharma’s mother Purnima Sharma provides strength to the family as she was the one who supported her husband during his difficult phases. As a mother, she couldn’t spend the initial years with her son Rohit due to financial issues. In November 2021, Sharma revealed that he used 45 on his jersey as his mother likes the number.

Not many people are aware of the fact that Rohit Sharma has a younger brother whose name is Vishal Sharma. Unlike his elder brother and sister-in-law, Vishal stays away from the limelight and lives a simple life. The younger sibling of Rohit is on Instagram and has more than 3.5k followers. 

Rohit Sharma’s Wife 

On December 13, 2015, Rohit Sharma married his longtime girlfriend Ritika Sajdeh after six years of dating. Before her marriage, Sajdeh was active in her cousin Bunty Sajdeh’s company Cornerstone as a sports manager. In 2008, she met Sharma at a TV commercial shoot for Reebok and later, the couple started dating each. As Sajdeh is a rakhi sister of the former India batter Yuvraj Singh, the swashbuckling left-hander jokingly warned Rohit against even looking at her. Before getting married to the ‘Hitman’, Sajdeh also managed star India batter Virat Kohli for three years. Along with Kohli and her husband, she has managed huge names in the sports industry. 

Rohit Sharma’s Daughter 

On December 30, 2022, Rohit Sharma became a father as his wife Ritika gave birth to a baby girl, whom they later named Samaira. During Samaira’s birth, Rohit was in Australia for the 2018-19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, after receiving the good news, he returned to India to be with his wife.
