The Indian team was the first one to win the troika of ICC trophies as they won the ICC World Cup in 1983 and 2011, the ICC World T20 in 2007 and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2002 and 2013. The 2002 Champions Trophy win was shared with Sri Lanka, but the 2013 win came by defeating England in the finals on June 23.

India had come into the tournament with a brand-new opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan and little did anyone knows that the duo will change the history of Indian cricket in coming years. It also marked a new beginning of Rohit’s career, which had been floundering in the middle order. Since this tournament, the Mumbaikar has gone to become one of the most devastating openers in world cricket.

Since his promotion as an opener, Rohit has scored three double hundreds in ODI cricket and four centuries in T20I cricket and widely regarded as one of the all-time greatest top order batsmen. He had a very good tournament in ICC Champions Trophy 2013 which was played in England. He scored 177 runs in five matches at an average of 35.40 and cemented his spot.

Rohit took to Twitter and shared a throwback picture from India’s victory in the finals which came on June 23 as well. The photo has Golden Bat winner Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, along with Rohit himself with the winner’s trophy.

However, Rohit Sharma used the wrong hashtag and marked #ChampionsTrophy2017 in his tweet. In CT 2017 India reached the final again, this time under the leadership of Virat Kohli. But the team imploded under the pressure of the event and Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir, removed the top three of the Indian batting lineup and Pakistan won by 180 runs, thanks to a century from Fakhar Zaman.
