Rohit Sharma gifts a pair of sunglasses to a Sri Lankan fan
Rohit Sharma will take part in the limited over series against Sri Lanka.
Gayan Senanayake is the superfan of the Sri Lanka cricket team, attending over 200 games at home and abroad. He was in for a pleasant surprise when Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma gifted him a sunglass during the 2nd Test. His tryst with cricket came to life when, as a 17-year-old, Gayan watched Sri Lanka secure the 1996 World Cup. As a tournament on home-soil, jointly hosted by India and Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Lankan triumph boosted his confidence and made him take cricket as passion forever.
Gayan has created a long-lasting impression of his, just like India’s Sudhir; who follows the Indian team home and abroad. He was thrilled to receive the sunglass from Rohit Sharma. The hitman, who didn’t feature in the Test series is set to take part in the limited overs series against Sri Lanka.
Set to feature in ODI series
India have already won the Test series 2-0, going into the 3rd Test match. This was also their eighth successive Test win. The ODI series will feature five games followed by a T20I match. The Indian selectors will announce the squad tonight (Sunday), and it has been reported earlier that captain Virat Kohli might well be rested for the series along with spin-duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin.
But the skipper was in no mood to pay heed to the reports, as he clearly said that he is totally fine representing the country in the One-Dayers and he sees no point of not playing in the upcoming series. Ashwin and Jadeja are likely to be rested as their workload has grown by manifolds.
Both the spinners have been active through out India’s Test season, as well as featured in most of the limited overs cricket. If rested, this will provide an opportunity for Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav who have done pretty well in whatever limited opportunities they had to grab on.
