Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is in the middle of a rough patch in his international career. He flattered to deceive in the Test series against England, barring the third match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham where he not only picked up a five-wicket haul but also scored a useful half-century. Subsequently, he was a recipient of severe criticism.
He was earlier compared to the legendary Kapil Dev and he replied, saying that he doesn’t wish to become Kapil. The Baroda cricketer was selected for the recently concluded Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He didn’t play the first match against Hong Kong and was included in the eleven for India’s marquee clash against Pakistan on September 19 in Dubai.
However, fate had something cruel in store for Hardik as he collapsed on the pitch in his run-up while delivering the penultimate ball of his fifth over. Later, he couldn’t get up and had to be carried off in a stretcher. Later, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) updated about his injury and said that the player had suffered an acute lower back injury.
Pandya out of action
Thereafter, he was ruled out of the series. He is not a part of the Indian Test team, which is playing a two-match Test series against Windies and it’s pretty evident that he won’t be a part of the limited-overs team that plays the Caribbean team in an ODI and T20I series. Nevertheless, the cricketer has something to cheer for the reason that he is celebrating his 25th birthday today.
He has expectantly been wished from every nook and corner of the country. In the meantime, Rohit Sharma, the Indian batsman under whom Pandya plays for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), also wished the pugnacious potential on the auspicious occasion. Moreover, he also wished for Pandya to gain fitness and take the field at the earliest.
Rohit took to Twitter and wrote, “Hope u get back on the field soon and also hope you find a good wardrobe designer many happy returns bro have a good one, @hardikpandya7!”
