The 17th match of the Indian Premier League 2020 was played on the high-scoring pitch of Sharjah between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Batting first, the defending champions posted a huge 208 on board, and the brilliant total came on the back of Quinton de Kock’s splendid 67 off 39 deliveries.

Mumbai Indians went on to win the game by a comfortable margin of 34 runs. Talking about skipper Rohit Sharma’s performance, though he got dismissed on six runs, he continued to be the topic of discussion in the subsequent match too.

Later in the day, during the match between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings, the commentary panel was doing the job, and in between, good words came in abundance for Rohit Sharma. Legendary former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar gave Rohit the marvellous compliment by saying that he has shown the way to Indian batsmen.

“Rohit Sharma has shown the way to the Indian batsmen. Weight on the front foot and pulls it, that is how Rohit Sharma bats,” said Gavaskar during commentary when Mayank Agarwal played a pull shot on Shardul Thakur’s delivery, and it went out of the ropes in the sixth over of KXIP’s batting.

Mayank Agarwal replicated Rohit Sharma’s pull shot

It was a short delivery from Thakur, and the KXIP opener came on the front foot to make the best use of it. He pulled him through mid-wicket and replicated the actions of Rohit Sharma in an amazing manner.

The MI skipper has been famous for long for his short-arm pulls of the front foot. He showed glimpses of the same when he hit Sandeep Sharma’s delivery for a six against SRH, and it turned out to be his only scoring shot.

Rohit has been displaying his form on and off in this season of IPL as he has scored 70 and 80 in two outings while in the other three, he has managed a mere 12, 8, and 6. Talking about MI’s journey in this season, they are sitting at the top of the table like champions. They will next face Rajasthan Royals on October 6.

The Rohit Sharma-led side has four IPL titles to their credit in the history of this fascinating league and is looking strong yet again for their 5th one.
