Rohit Sharma is grateful for this gesture by his fans

Rohit Sharma has been a prolific run scorer for Team India over the years. He is the only batsman on the planet to have as many as three double centuries on ODI cricket. The Mumbaikar is currently leading the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has been playing for the franchise since 2011 and has grown in stature.

Mumbai this season, have failed to play like a three-time champion team. They are currently sitting in the seventh position on the points table and are required to win all their games in order to have any chance of progressing into the playoffs. Rohit’s own form has been indifferent, to say the least, which hasn’t helped the team’s cause.

The lacklustre run for Rohit

He has scored 196 runs in eight games at a mediocre average of 28. His top scores of 94 and 56* came against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) respectively. Apart from that, he has scored 46 runs in six matches. He has floated himself from the top to the middle order, which hasn’t made a whole lot of difference to his fortunes.

However, amidst the gloomy phase, Rohit had something to cheer for as he celebrated his 31st birthday on April 30, 2018. He was showered with appreciations, and best wishes poured in for the talented Indian batsman from all quarters. Meanwhile, a group of fans planted 31 saplings and posted the same on Twitter.

They also dedicated the noble work as a present to the Indian batsman with a message which read “Rohit Sharma turned 31 today and to give him gift from our side we decided to plant 31 trees Hope you’ll like it Roo @ImRo45 @ritssajdeh #HappyBirthdayRohit”

Rohit was prompt to notice it and he thanked them for contributing towards the environment. He wrote- “Such a great mark made on our environment. Thank you for this”
