Amid a time when the sporting world has been put to a halt due to coronavirus outbreak, many cricketers are getting active across social media in their idle time. The cricketing fraternity has suffered a major blow as all the major events have either been cancelled or called off due to the pandemic and the much-awaited IPL 2020 has also landed in hot waters.
The cash-rich league tournament, which was slated to start on March 29th was pushed further to April 15th. However, taking the current stern situation into consideration, reports have surfaced that the tournament might be delayed further or called off for this year. Amid these trying times, many cricketers are being spotted doing Twitter interactions and Instagram live.
One such cricketer is Kevin Pietersen, who was spotted interacting with several cricketers including Indian batting stalwart Rohit Sharma. Both the players had an engaging chat during the Instagram live where the Mumbai Indians skipper answered several questions that were hurled at him by Pietersen.

During the chat, Pietersen also asked Rohit about his favourite coach and the latter took the name of legendary Ricky Ponting.
“Ricky Ponting to me was magic,” said Rohit Sharma. “The way he handled the team when he was captain for the first half of the tournament and then he gave the captaincy to me mid-way through the tournament, it takes a lot of guts to do that. I can only imagine him doing that,” the Mumbai Indians skipper further said.
“After that as well, to be as involved as he was as a support staff…he played a supporting role to all the players, to all the youngsters in the team and he was guiding me through captaincy. I got to learn a lot from him,” Rohit heaped praise on the Australian legend.
Over the years, Rohit has emerged as one of the most successful players of the Indian Premier League. The 32-year-old led Mumbai Indians to their fourth IPL title when they defeated Chennai Super Kings in the final of IPL 2019.
In 188 IPL games, the right-hander has amassed 4898 runs at an impressive average of 31.60. Rohit also has a ton and 36 half-centuries under his belt. Mumbai Indians are one of the favourites to clinch the coved trophy for a record fifth time in IPL 2020 if the league gets underway in the near future.
