Three-time champions Mumbai Indians so far had a roller-coaster ride in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 with one win and two losses. They have lost to Delhi Capitals in their opening game by 37 runs; won against Royal Challengers Bangalore by six runs and again were thumped by Kings XI Punjab by 8 wickets. On Wednesday, the MI will play the in-form CSK in their second home game and it will be a crucial encounter for Rohit Sharma’s men to go up the points table.
One of the MI’s concerns so far have been the ordinary form of Rohit himself. The dashing opener has scored 14, 48 and 32 in the three matches and the blue-and-gold brigade will expect some fireworks from the skipper’s bat soon to improve their chances of bagging the fourth title.
Rohit confident ahead of CSK clash
Rohit, whose bat has largely been silent of late in the international cricket as well, though is not personally too worried about his batting in the ongoing IPL. Mumbai Indians posted a tweet quoting the captain who said he has been connecting the ball even though he hasn’t scored big so far. He sounded confident ahead of the CSK clash saying if his team played to its potential, a win is likely.
🗣 "I am enjoying my batting. Yes, I have not got a big score but I'm hitting the ball well. If we play to our potential, we will be able to win this game." – @ImRo45#OneFamily #CricketMeriJaan #MumbaiIndians pic.twitter.com/pLizn7RXwB

Some players of the MI have been performing well in this tournament, like Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Quinton de Kock and the hosts will hope that the entire unit fire together against Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s men on Wednesday.
The MI and CSK share an intense rivalry in the IPL with the former having a 13-11 edge in 24 games overall. The two teams have met in the final of the IPL thrice (2010, 2013, 2015) with Rohit’s side winning twice. However, the CSK have been perfectly defending their 2018 title as they have won all the three matches they have played so far and will look to stretch the winning streak further.
