Rohit Sharma recalls his first impression of Yuvraj Singh
When he had congratulated Yuvi after the latter had won a Player of the Match award in ICC World T20 2007, Yuvi had responded back with a terse thank you.
Team India cricketers Rohit Sharma and Yuvraj Singh are known to be best friends. The two cricketers often show their mutual admiration on the social media. They keep posting updates about one another and share pictures on the social media. In fact, Rohit Sharma’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, calls Yuvraj Singh her ‘rakhi brother’. However, all has not been well between the two since the inception.
Recently, in an episode of Breakfast with Champions, Rohit Sharma recalled how he had formed a negative image of Yuvraj Singh when he had first met him. He recalled the time when he waited for the team bus and was scared to talk to the senior players. He saw Yuvraj Singh as one distinct personality among the rest.
“I used to fear the players. The first time when I was to board the team bus with other players, I reached the lobby one hour earlier. I was waiting for everyone. They came slowly but Yuvraj was looking different from far sight. I was a big fan of Yuvi,” Rohit Sharma said in the show Breakfast with Champions.
Speaking about another incident, Rohit Sharma reflected back in time when Yuvi had questioned him after he had apparently taken Yuvi’s place in the team bus. He had asked him if he knew whose place he had taken. This gave a very strict impression to Rohit.
Also, when he had congratulated Yuvi after the latter had won a Player of the Match award in ICC World T20 2007, Yuvi had responded back with a terse thank you. It was only after the historic six sixes that Yuvraj hit that the ice was broken between the two. After the game, the two shared long conversations and there started the story of their bonhomie.
