Rohit Sharma reckons his team wasn't good on the days of the clashes against RPS
Despite having a poor record, Rohit believes his team will come out all guns blazing in the final
A long journey of the Indian Premier League is about to get over and it has all come down to the one final encounter. Mumbai Indians who had finished on the top of the points table will take on Rising Pune Supergiant in Hyderabad for the ultimate glory. The skipper of MI, Rohit Sharma said ahead of the big final that his team didn’t play well against RPS in the previous three clashes.
In a video posted on Twitter by Mumbai Indians, he said, “We have not had great history against Pune. They have been playing some really good cricket throughout the tournament. It’s just that we were not good on those days. That’s probably the reasons we lost the game.”
RPS had defeated MI on all the three previous meetings this season. In the league stage, they emerged victorious both at home and away and when the two teams met in the first Qualifier at the Wankhede Stadium, RPS once more got the better of the neighboring franchise. MI were forced to play the second Qualifier against Kolkata Knight Riders but they enforced a thumping win over KKR to set up the summit clash against RPS.
RPS can take confidence from the previous record against MI ahead of the big final. MI have struggled big time against RPS but the equation will be changed as the venue of the match is completely different. The ground in Hyderabad has been known to producing high scoring encounters and MI have been a part of quite a few such games this season.
Rohit believes his team has played some outstanding cricket in this edition of IPL and they haven’t relied on one individual to deliver for them. It’s the team as a whole that has done well and despite their poor record against RPS, they will come out fearless and all guns blazing.
Here’s the video posted on Twitter on Mumbai Indians’ official account where Rohit talks about his team’s journey this season and the challenge that lies ahead of the final against Rising Pune Supergiant.
