Rohit Sharma records the memory with wife and daughter at the Wankhede
Daddy Rohit Sharma enjoyed playing a match-winning knock in presence of his daughter.
Since it’s an odd year (2019), Mumbai Indians’ (MI) chances of lifting their record fourth Indian Premier League (IPL) title is high. On Sunday, the blue-and-gold brigade took a major step ahead to end as the table toppers by thrashing the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 9 wickets in the final game of the league stage in Mumbai. Rohit Sharma’s men ended with 18 points along with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) but topped the points table because of a better net run-rate.
MI will thus take on the CSK in the first qualifier in Chennai on Tuesday. Whoever loses Tuesday’s game will have another chance to make the final by playing the winner of the eliminator. However, Rohit’s side will be thinking not much beyond winning the game against the CSK and make their fifth final. They have won their last two matches and have the momentum with them.
Rohit though hasn’t been in his peak form this IPL but his captaincy has been appreciated. In 13 games he has played this season (he missed out in one game against Kings XI Punjab because of injury and was replaced by Kieron Pollard as the captain), Rohit has scored 386 runs at an average of 32 plus and strike rate of 129 plus. The man needs another 121 runs to complete 5k runs in the IPL and will be aiming to touch the milestone in the remaining games.
Rohit’s moments with family
On Sunday, Rohit scored his second fifty of the tournament and remained not out to guide his side against a hapless KKR to improve the net run-rate by far. His wife Ritika Sajdeh and infant daughter Samaira were in the stands to watch him play and after the game, the ace batsman was holding his daughter while Ritika accompanied them on the ground.
They sat there down on the field and took cute photos. Rohit later shared the same on social media and captioned it: “At the end, this is what matters the most” with a love emoji at the end.
Rohit, who won the IPL for the MI thrice, will be leaving for the ICC World Cup soon after. India will be kicking off their campaign against South Africa on June 5 and the Mumbai batsman will be a major trump card for Team India.
