Rohit Sharma revealed how Pandya brothers hornswoggled everyone
Hardik and Krunal were involved in a Twitter exchange.
Mumbai Indians undoubtedly was the best team in Indian Premier League 2017’s league stages. They won 10 out of 14 matches and bossed the points table. Sitting comfortably on the top, they were the first team to make it to the playoffs. With a settled lineup and a great bench strength, they are genuinely the team to beat this season. MI dressing room was filled with joy, as they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in front of 61,000 KKR loyalists at the Eden Gardens on Sunday, without many of their ‘premium’ players.
But recently, a new controversy shook them hard. Brothers and two vital cogs in Mumbai’s roster, Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya picked up a fight. It was not restricted to the dressing room and was made public. Younger brother Hardik was the first to go on micro-blogging site Twitter and posted an angry tweet to his brother Krunal.
The Twitter-battle
“Sometimes in life, people closest to you end up disappointing you the most. Not cool, bro!”, tweeted Hardik. The Indian national team all-rounder was not happy with his elder brother. But no one knew what the reason for his anger. His tweet rose all kinds of controversy. While some advised to sort the issues at home, others advised not to have expectations from anyone.
Elder brother Krunal was furious at this. He thought that being an elder brother, he must not tolerate it. He too used Twitter as the platform to give a fitting reply to Hardik. “Hardik Pandya, this shouldn’t have happened in the first place. I am bade bhaiyya for a reason. Let’s not make this a big issue!” tweeted back Krunal.
Former Indian national team opening batsman Virender Sehwag is known to provide a comic relief to many crucial circumstances. He found the opportunity to give some advice to the brothers. He tweeted, “Lagta hai ,”Baap Bada Na Bhaiyya, Sabse Bada Rupaiyya” – is gaane ko jyada hi seriously le liya .Lado mat yaar ! #PandyaBrosFight.” (I feel they have taken the song “neither father nor brother, but money comes first” song too seriously. Don’t fight man ! #PandyaBrosFight.”
How Pandya-brothers fooled everyone
Watching two important team member indulging in a fight, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma tried to play the peacemaker. He advised the Pandya-brothers to use smart ideas so that bills cannot hamper their relationship. “Guys, don’t let bills come in between you two. #ApnaoSmartTareeke and split bills using @CitrusPay ! @hardikpandya7 @krunal pandya24.”
Citrus Pay is a financial technology company. Hence everybody now knows Pandya-brothers’ tweets were rather promotional tweets scripted only for advertisement purpose. Both Hardik and Krunal Pandya thanked the skipper, as he sorted out the ‘reel’ fight on the Twitter, and promised to use CitrusPay from now on.
Mumbai takes on Rising Pune Supergiant at the Wankhede on Tuesday. Their marketing strategy has left fans second-guessing. They clearly fooled everyone, as fans though a real fight had broken. Who tops that list? Maybe Virender Sehwag!
