Rohit Sharma is not only the captain of India in all formats but he is also India’s official ambassador for La Liga. The 34-year-old has been promoting content for the Spanish football league and travelled to Europe in 2020 to watch a game between Real Madrid and Barcelona, the two giant clubs in the world of football since a long time.
Rohit revealed his favourite footballer as Zinedine Zidane. The former Real Madrid footballer played for various big clubs in the world and was a part of four World Cups for France as well. The attacking midfielder, post his playing days, worked as the manager for his former club Real Madrid and the Frenchman won the Ballon d’Or award in 1998. He has a huge fan base and no wonder, Rohit is on the list as well.
I want to create more memories with La Liga: Rohit Sharma
Rohit mentioned that his best memory of La Liga was watching an El Classico game in 2020 in Madrid. He also noted that due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, it won’t be easy to travel there again, and he pointed out the packed schedule of Indian team makes it difficult.
“I would say live, I went to El Clasico in 2020, just before COVID struck. We were there in Madrid to watch the Real Madrid and Barcelona game. So that was my best-ever memory of La Liga so far. I want to create more memories with La Liga, but now because we play so many games, and there are so many restrictions right now. I’m not able to travel there and experience it,” Rohit was quoted by NDTV.
Rohit is currently captaining the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022, and he started off with a 31-ball 42 in the first game against Delhi Capitals. However, he was dismissed for just 10 runs in the second game and will be looking for a big score in their next fixture against the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 6 (Wednesday).
