Rohit Sharma loves playing Australia in Bengaluru. In fact, he loves playing against Australia regardless of the venue or the country. And, he showed that once again in the series decider against the Aussies. The Indian vice-captain shellacked the Aaron Finch-led Australia to the tune of 119, and along with captain Virat Kohli spearheaded India’s run-chase of 287.

Rohit’s 119 is his eighth ODI hundred against the Australians. The Hitman, who scored his first-ever double-hundred at the same venue and against the same opposition, six years ago is the second leading run-scorer for India against the former World Champions. In 40 ODIs against Australia, the Hitman has racked up 2208 runs at an average of 61.33 and a strike-rate of 93.87 with eight half-centuries and as many hundreds.

Rohit loves playing against the Aussies and when asked what is the reason behind him almost always making runs against the men from Down Under, Rohit told Yuzvendra Chahal on his show ‘Chahal TV’ that playing against a top-quality team like Australia always tends to bring the best out of him while at the same time he also hailed the competitive spirit of the Aussies.

“I always enjoy playing against them. They are a good team and when you play against a good side,  it brings the best out of you automatically. Australia- whether it is home or away- they always perform well. it was important for us to come back after losing the first game” Rohit Sharma said on Chahal TV.

Rohit Sharma gets candid on Chahal TV

One of the things that make Rohit Sharma so special is his effortlessness with which he hits those mammoth sixes. Sharma, unlike the other six-hitters like Chris Gayle, does not rely on brute power. He always focusses on his timing, something he told Chahal when the leggie asked him the reason behind him hitting such monstrous sixes.

“It’s not about power [yaar]. It’s about technique. I always say six-hitting is not only about power, it’s about timing, our bats are so good. I always think that I have to hit above the rope, not out of the ground, coz you only get six runs, not eight or ten” Rohit said.
