Rohit Sharma shares a special tweet for Morne Morkel
Rohit Sharma congratulated Morne Morkel on a very successful international career.
South African speedster Morne Morkel called it a day in international cricket recently. He played his final Test match against Australia at the iconic venue of the Wanderers, in Johannesburg. He returned with a couple of wickets in his final Test innings as South Africa registered a thumping win in the match. The good wishes have come in pouring for the lanky speedster.
Among the lot wishing him is Rohit Sharma. The veteran Indian batsman sent his good wishes through a special tweet on the micro blogging site Twitter. Rohit Sharma congratulated Morne Morkel on a very successful international career. Also, he hailed him as a fighter. Furthermore, the veteran Indian opener praised Morkel as a great competitor and a very good human being. He wished him all the luck for his future endeavors.
Here is what Rohit Sharma tweeted:
“Fought really really hard in his career, great competitor and the nicest human being. Wish you a happy retirement @mornemorkel65,” Rohit Sharma wrote in his tweet for Morne Morkel.
Morkel’s retirement
Talking about the retirement, it was a decision that the pacer had made prior to the commencement of the series. He had announced that the four match Test series against the Aussies would be his last. With his departure, the South African team would be dented in the pace bowling department for sure. Dale Steyn is perennially prone to injuries and the likes of Kyle Abbott have already left international cricket.
In this backdrop, the services of Morkel were key to the South Africa’s bowling concerns. In any case, the decision has already been taken. Morkel bowed phenomenally well in the series. He was a star performer in the third Test where he returned with a six wicket haul to singlehandedly crush the opposition. Also, in the final Test, he was spot on with his line and lengths. He provided the ideal support to Vernon Philander, who wreaked havoc from the other end.
