The 2017 edition of the Indian Premier League saw an unprecedented ending with Mumbai Indians pulling off a victory from the jaws of defeat in a nail-biting encounter against the Rising Pune Supergiants at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium last night. With the win, Mumbai became the most successful team in the IPL securing their third title. Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders succeed MI with two titles each.
Batting first, the Rohit Sharma-led side suffered a batting collapse and half of the team was back in the pavilion for just 65 runs. Despite having a star-studded batting lineup, MI looked shaky from the start of their innings, as if they had some mental scars from their previous defeats against Pune.
They eventually posted a meagre total of 129 at the end of their innings. However, during the MI innings, Rohit had a rather faux pas when he was caught on camera sleeping in the dugout. The MI skipper was seen dozing on a kit bag only to wake up to the loud cheer of Pune spectators celebrating the dismissal of Karn Sharma.

In the end, it was Rohit who enjoyed the laugh. The MI bowling attack put up a clinical performance to restrict Pune and defend the low total to win the final by a single run. An eventful last over from Mitchell Johnson saw Pune lose two back to wickets including captain Steve Smith.
With the domestic season coming to an end, all the focus would now shift to international cricket with the ICC Champion’s Trophy knocking on the door. Rohit had a mixed season in the IPL with the willow would looking to score some much-needed runs.
