Rohit Sharma speculates a bright future for India after victory against Windies
Rohit was elated and he hailed the players for showing character.
India churned out a superlative performance against Windies as they managed to comprehensively thump their opponents 3-0 in the three-match T20I series. Virat Kohli, the regular Indian captain, was rested and Rohit Sharma was appointed as the skipper for the 20-overs fixtures. The 31-year-old turned out to be superlative, both as a batsman and as a skipper.
In the first match at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the Men in Blue won by five wickets, albeit Rohit perished to fast bowler Oshane Thomas. The interim captain had a memorable outing in the second match in Lucknow. He scored his fourth T20I century and achieved the milestone, surpassing New Zealand batsman Colin Munro with three T20I centuries.
Rohit heaps praise on his teammates
His knock not only helped his team to a 71-run victory but also carved a series-win. The third match at M.A Chidambaram in Chennai turned out to be a humdinger as both teams fought tooth and nail. Nicholas Pooran’s half-century coupled with a matured knock from Darren Bravo lifted the Windies to a significant 181 for the loss of three wickets in their 20 overs.
During the run-chase, Rohit got out cheaply to fast bowler Keemo Paul. Nevertheless, Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant racked up fifties to take India ever so close to the target. In the end, India got home off the last ball of the match. Following the stupendous performance, Rohit was elated and he hailed the players for showing character throughout the series.
He also mentioned that the team has a bright future in the offing. The Nagpur-born cricketer took to Twitter and wrote, “Serious effort from the lads to clinch the series. Lots of character in the squad, future is bright. By the way this is @imK_Ahmed13 3rd trophy raise #TeamIndia @BCCI,”
