Rohit Sharma suggested me to try the slower ball, says Jasprit Bumrah on Shaun Marsh's dismissal
Bumrah's six-wicket haul has kept India on the top despite the second innings collapse.
Jasprit Bumrah was the hero of the day for India at the MCG on the third day of the ongoing Test match. His figures of 6/33 literally dismantled Australia for a paltry score of 151 in the first innings. His hostile spell helped the visitors gain a mammoth lead of 292 runs and more or less they have sealed the fate of this game unless rain intervenes big time in the last two days.
Among all those six wickets which saw the batsmen’s furniture being disturbed too often, a slower yorker bowled to Shaun Marsh was the talk of the town the whole day. It was the last ball of the first session as the hosts were looking set to go unscathed with the pair of Marsh and Travis Head in the middle. The former was set after playing 60 balls and little did he know what was coming to him.
Bumrah too had kept the batters on the tenterhooks until then and unfurled a classy yorker at an extremely slow pace. Marsh played all over it and was pinned in front of the stumps with the umpire having no hesitation to raise his finger.
Bumrah reveals the mastermind
Jasprit Bumrah, after the end of day’s play, was naturally asked about the special delivery and he revealed that Rohit Sharma had suggested him to try a slower ball with nothing happening in the pitch. “Rohit Sharma suggested the slower ball to Shaun Marsh because nothing was happening,” he told reporters during the press conference.
As far as the game situation is concerned, Team India is still bossing the game despite the second innings collapse. They lead by 346 runs at the moment and have five wickets in hand. It will be interesting to see how they play on the fourth morning before declaring the innings.
