The duo of opener Rohit Sharma and Indian skipper Virat Kohli became the first pair in the history of ODI cricket to go past the 200-run partnership on four occasions. It was their 12th-century stand, the third-most among India pairs and the second-most for any duo this decade. Clearly, both the skipper and his deputy enjoys slamming the leather with each other’s company.

Rohit whacked two sixes and 18 boundaries on his way to 147 off 138 balls while Kohli scored 113 runs off 106 balls. The hosts piled up 337 runs in their fifty overs and the majority of the credit goes these two. During their 230-run partnership, there were moments of panic as a potential run-out didn’t look too far. The pair have been involved in six-run outs and all of these came in ODI games, with the latest one coming against Australia in the last series.

Run-out scare

In the final ODI against Kiwis too, the pair looked a little bit blurry when it comes to running between the wicket but to India’s delight, the visitors failed to bank on it. Rohit spoke during the mid-innings break and took a dig at Kohli but at the same time added that he loves batting with the modern great.

“We always enjoy batting with each other. We’ve had good partnerships the last 3-4 years. When you have someone like him at the other end, it makes my job easier. Lucky that we didn’t run each other out,” Rohit said.

It seems the confusion while running between the wicket isn’t just confined to pun-loving Twitter and both of them are aware of this drawback in their other ways impressive chemistry. And they will look to sort it out ahead of the important series so that they keep on plundering biggies and take their team to victory, just like they did in Kanpur last night.
