Yuzvendra Chahal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar engaged in a lighthearted conversation after India beat England in the second T20I at Edgbaston, Birmingham on July 9, Saturday. Both Kumar and Chahal were instrumental with the ball in India’s 49-run victory, helping the team take a 2-0 lead and clinch the three-match series.
The conversation between the duo was about England skipper Jos Buttler’s dismissal, who was caught behind off Bhuvneshwar’s bowling. The umpire did not give out on the field and India went for a review after much deliberation and Chahal tried to insist that he was the first one to identify the edge before anyone else. Kumar cheekily took a dig at Chahal, conceding that perhaps the leg-spinner did hear it the clearest because he wanted the batter to be out before he would have had to bowl to him and be taken for runs.
You knew if he didn’t get out, you were the next to bowl: Bhuvneshwar Kumar
“I was the first one to come forward because I heard it even at mid-on,” said Chahal on BCCI’s special show ‘Chahal TV’. Kumar replied, “The catch? Everyone heard it except Rishabh Pant!” The leggie responded, “You have to say I heard it the most clearly.” Kumar joked, “Perhaps you did because you knew if he didn’t get out, you were the next to bowl. Rohit took that review in fear of you being the next bowler and (Buttler) will hit you.”
A match-winning spell 💪

Speaking about India’s series win in England, Kumar said that the team talked about trying to do well against England since they are one of the top teams in the format. He added that it was a good series win and a “confidence boost”. “There are more series to come but winning this one at their home, has individually made us feel more confident to replicate what we did here in Australia as well,” said the Indian pacer.
Kumar was the Player of the Match in the second T20I in Birmingham, as he picked up three wickets for 15 runs in three overs. Chahal chipped in, picking up two wickets for 10 runs in two overs. Meanwhile, the third and final T20I will be played on Sunday in Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
