Romanian bowler Pavel Florin captures the internet with his bizarre bowling action

The cricketing world has witnessed a number of unorthodox bowlers, which includes the ones of Paul Adams, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah, Sohail Tanvir and many others. However, Romanian bowler Pavel Florin has transcended them all. He is currently plying his trade for Cluj Cricket Club in the European T10 Cricket League and has surprised one and all.
Florin has a bizarre bowling action and that was on show during his team’s match against Dreux Cricket Club. He doesn’t have a long run-up and he tosses the ball a long way above the batsman’s eye-line. His deliveries have no pace either and hence, the batters have to make all the pace while playing their strokes. The video of his bowling is going viral on social media.
Florin’s indifferent style of bowling
In one of the deliveries, he almost bowled outside the pitch. He also bowled a full-bunger and a rank long-hop in two of his balls. But Florin doesn’t care about his bowling action not being a good one as he loves the game of cricket to the fullest. “Maybe someone says my bowling is not beautiful or not effective but I don’t care, because I love cricket,” he was quoted as saying.
Earlier it was learned that Florin broke his leg and played the match with heavy strapping, something which shows his love for the sport. The Romanian took up cricket only at the age of 40 and made his international debut back in 2016 during the Pan-European tournament in Hungary. He prefers batting more than bowling as he finds himself more comfortable with the bat.
He also has worked as a bodyguard back home and has played a number of sports, including football. Florin’s next game is versus Svanholm on Tuesday. Florin’s team is currently placed at the bottom of the table after losing both their games in the T10 league.
The tournament is being played at the La Manga Cricket Club in Cartagena, Spain. It consists of 10 teams, divided into a couple of groups. Cluj have been placed in group A alongside three other clubs namely Rotterdam, Svanholm and Dreux.
