The cricket fraternity were shocked to hear the news of the retirement of AB de Villiers. The dynamic South African cricketer called it quits from all forms of international cricket on May 23, 2018. The announcement came as a major surprise as nobody had expected it. Not so long ago, AB was seen in full throttle in the IPL 2018 playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
AB de Villiers did not quite reveal any big reason for his sudden retirement. He just remarked that he wishes to quit at a time when he is still in good form. Also, he clarified that his decision does not come with hidden intentions of plying his trade elsewhere in international cricket.
Furthermore, he confirmed that he will continue to play domestic cricket in South Africa and will extend his full support to the cricket in South Africa and also to his good friend Faf du Plessis, who is the captain of the Proteas lineup. Well, if AB can take a decision as big as this in such a surprising manner, he can certainly take similar decisions again in regards to his IPL career as well.
The Indian fans, the Royal Challengers Bangalore fans in particular, look concerned about the same. However, in a massive update, the official social media handle of RCB has given out a good news for the fans. They had showered praises on ABD in one of the posts and had then asked AB to come back to Bengaluru. A concerned fan asked about AB’s IPL future and RCB replied with a positive response.
“@abdevilliers17 immense character lets him walk out of international cricket with grace and countless fans longing for more of his class! Come back to Bengaluru. #PlayBold,” the social media handle of Royal Challengers Bangalore wrote in a comment.
“Will he play for RCB @royalchallengersbangalore?” a fan asked back. The RCB social media handle was quick to comment back saying, “yes he will 🙂 “.
