Royal London One Day Cup: Nottinghamshire score 400 yet again
Trent Bridge produced yet another high scoring game in the Royal London One-Day Cup with Nottinghamshire posting 400+ total once again. Warwickshire, who were on receiving end this time, bowled out for 379 in reply.
After been put to bat, Nottinghamshire got another big opening stand between Michael Lumb and Riki Wessels. They both shared a record 178 run stand this time in just 26.1 overs before Wessels got out for run-a-ball 76. Lumb on other hand scored another big ton as he got out after a brilliant 138 coming off just 108 balls with 11 fours and 5 sixes.
Later the captain Dan Christian and Greg Smith shared a 141 run stand in just 14 overs for 4th wicket to push the scored to 400. Smith got out for 62-ball 76 while Christian smacked 94 off just 47 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes. Nottingham finished on 415/5 in their 50 overs, becoming only the 2nd team to score 400+ in consecutive List A games.
Later, Sam Hain and Ian Bell scored 60s with Johnathan Trott scoring a 92-ball century at the other end. However, their strike rates didn’t threaten the required rate. Tim Ambrose scored 73 in 40 balls towards the end to take Warwickshire to 379, only 36 runs short of the Notts’ total.

2 – Nottinghamshire became only the 2nd team to score 400+ totals in List A Cricket in consecutive games. South Africa became the first during the CWC 2015.
0 – Number of centuries Michael Lumb scored in his first 35 innings in List A for Nottinghamshire. Now he has hit consecutive centuries.
92 – Jonathan Trott’s 92-ball century is his fastest century in List A Cricket among the 18 tons in the format.
176 – Opening stand between MJ Lumb and MH Wessels. In the previous game, they shared 342 stand while in the T20 game before the One Day Cup, they shared a 100 run stand in just 50 balls.
415/5 – Nottinghamshire’s 415/5 is their 2nd highest team total in List A Cricket and 8th highest in England in this format.
794 – Number of runs scored in the game. The 8th most and 3rd most in England in a List A game.
860 – Number of runs Nottinghamshire scored in two games. These are the most by any team in two consecutive List A games. South Africa scored 819 runs in two consecutive games during CWC 2015.

At Cardiff, Glamorgan defeated Sussex by 84 runs. After electing to bat, Glamorgan put on 302/6 with help of fifties from Chris Cooke, Aneurin Donald and Graham Wagg. Cooke top scored with 80 off 67 with 7 fours and 3 sixes.
Sussex couldn’t go well in chase as every batsman failed to convert the start they got. Captain Luke Wright top scored with 65 coming off 48 balls. Michael Hogan picked up 4 wickets including the one of Wright. Sussex were bowled out for 218 in 43rd over.

Defending champions Gloucestershire made it 3 out of 3 in losses as Middlesex defeated them by 7 wickets in rain effected game. Gloucestershire posted 254/8 after put into bat. Hamish Marshall and Gareth Roderick scored 74 and 64 respectively sharing a century stand for 3rd wicket. Toby Roland-Jones picked 3 crucial wickets.

Middlesex needed 208 in 35 overs due to rain interruption. Opener Paul Stirling scored an unbeaten 125 off 102 balls with 15 fours and 3 sixes as his side chased down the target in 31.3 overs by losing just 3 wickets.

At Northampton, home team Northamptonshire defeated Lancashire by 76 runs. After put into bat, Northamptonshire posted 287/8 thanks to a 98 from Ben Duckett who shared a 137 run stand for 4th wicket with Rob Keogh (66) after Northampton lost 3 wickets for just 37. U19 star Saqib Mahmood and Nathan Buck picked 3 wickets each.
Lancashire bundled for just 211 in the chase Graeme White picked up a 6-wicket haul. Karl Brown and Luke Procter scored fifties only to reduce the losing margin. England star batsman Jos Buttler was bowled by Prasanna for just 2.

At Oval, Somerset won comfortably against Surrey after rain reduced the game to 24-a-side. Surrey batted 11 overs after winning the toss before rain stopped the game for more than 4 hours. Rory Burns scored an unbeaten 51 while Jason Roy scored 46 to help Surrey to score 163/6 in 24 overs.
Somerset needed 180 in 24 overs as per D/L method. Johann Myburgh and Jim Allenby put on a 155-run opening stand in just 18.1 overs before both got out to the Curran brothers. Somerset chased down the target with 5 balls to spare and losing 2 wickets.

Besides the 5 Royal London One Day games, Hampshire took on Kent at Canterbury in Natwest T20 Blast game. Joe Denly’s 59 and Bell-Drummond’s 35 gave a 96-run opening stand in 10.2 overs before both were dismissed by Tino Best in same over. Sam Billings scored a quick fire 55 and put on 94 run stand for 3rd wicket with Sam Northeast as Kent posted 193/3 in 20 overs.

In chase, Hampshire captain Sean Ervine scored 34-ball 56 despite wicket kept falling at the other end. Afridi and Sammy put on 47 runs in 19 balls for 7th wicket before Afridi got out for 35 off 17 balls which included 4 sixes. Sammy kept Hampshire in the chase by striking 3 sixes in his 30 off 17 balls but got out in last over as his side fell 8 runs short of target.
