The recently appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) is peeking into even the smallest of matters of Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI). Making it hard for the officials to work freely. Two general managers have resigned recently and BCCI needs to be efficient in finding new recruits who are as good as the previous ones.
There have been a lot of officials leaving the office. The most recent being RP Shah, General Manager at BCCI. The reason for his retirement according to him is his age. He is 61-year-old and hails from Pune. As the BCCI office bases itself in Mumbai it is tough for him to travel. However, many think the reason for retirement was the appointment of COA.
There is a lot of pressure from the committee and many officers from different posts have resigned due to the same. He stated that it has nothing to do with the COA. He said: “Yes, I have resigned from my post. The reason is that I am 61 years old. I had taken the decision back in October. I live in Pune and I was finding it hard to regularly travel to Mumbai. There was no pressure or query from COA. I shared a good rapport with CEO Rahul Johri and the CFO Santhosh Ragnekar. Rahul wanted me to continue but I requested him to relieve me.”
Shah made the news in 2016 when he was accused of being the director of the BG Shirke construction group. As the owner of the group being the former secretary of BCCI, Ajay Shirke. BG Shirke had ties with Mumbai Cricket Association as well. Shah was relieved of his duty on 18th February.
