Australian speedster Pat Cummins and Shivam Mavi combined well to take an excellent catch while fielding on the boundary lines during the game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022. Cummins had to cover a lot of distance from the long-off area as Riyan Parag connected one straight down the ground and Cummins managed to hold on to a flying catch.
However, when he realised that he would touch the boundary rope, he passed the ball to Mavi, who was waiting nearby. The youngster had to jump high to complete an excellent relay catch in the end.
It was a big moment in the game, as Rajasthan Royals were cruising at one stage in the first innings after Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to field first. The KKR bowlers, towards the end of the innings, seemed to put a tight hold on the run rate as they got rid of the centurion Jos Buttler, Riyan Parag and Karun Nair in quick time. Despite that, Shimron Hetmyer took apart the final over of Russell and helped his side post a big total of 217 on the board in 20 overs.
Coming back to the catch, Cummins has had a tough time with the ball ever since coming into the playing XI and he desperately needed this effort to boost his confidence. He finished with 1/50 in his four overs going at 12.50 runs per over and he will now be looking to make up for it with a batting effort down the order. Mavi on his comeback, had a good game as he finished with 1/34 in his four overs and picked up two catches in the field as well.

Earlier, Buttler was the standout player for the Rajasthan Royals side in the first innings as he scored his second century of the season. The wicket-keeper batter has been in tremendous form throughout this season and has ensured that his side has been getting off to an excellent start in the powerplay.
