Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2022 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals panned out in an interesting manner when the two teams met at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 27. RR pacer Prasidh Krishna had a dream outing in the match when he bowled some amazing deliveries to take down Dinesh Karthik, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Virat Kohli.

It was the 19th over of the first innings when Krishna delivered a brilliant yorker to Hasaranga as he failed to connect it with his bat and the ball castled the stumps. Hasaranga was dismissed for a golden duck as he had no answer to Krishna’s speedy delivery clocked at 147.5kmph. Before the dismissal, the speedster had scalped Dinesh Karthik on the previous delivery to bag two wickets in two deliveries.

RR restricted RCB to 157/8

RCB had a mediocre start to the innings as they lost Virat Kohli early in the powerplay.  Skipper Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar tried to build the innings after the major blow, but couldn’t add many runs to the scoreboard. After the skipper’s dismissal, Maxwell walked out to bat, aiming to go big this game but could not succeed as the RR bowlers had a solution to every obstacle.

Patidar compiled a slow yet composed half-century to continue his good form from the previous game, but little did he know about Ravichandran Ashwin’s spin trick. He fell prey to Ashwin’s spell in the 16th over, and what followed next was a collapse that RCB had not expected. RCB slipped from 130/4 to 154/8 in the end. The batters could add only 34 runs between overs 16-20 and lost five wickets in the run.

Krishna, on the other hand, finished his four-over spell with three wickets in his bag in the form of Kohli, Karthik, and Hasaranga. Obed McCoy was equally good with the ball and scalped as many wickets, giving away just 23 runs. With a low total on the board, Rajasthan looks to chase it down quickly so as to reserve their finals berth, whereas RCB aims to defend the target to fulfill their dream of a maiden IPL title.
