Rubel Hossain, the bowler with a sling action has been an integral part of the Bangladeshi squad in the last 2 years. The bowler contributed hugely in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, where he helped his side make it to the quarter-finals of the mega event. It was a notable achievement for Bangladeshi cricket as they featured in the quarter-finals of an ICC event for the first time in their history.
While the right arm fast bowler has tasted success in the coloured jersey, his performance in the Test format has not been impressive. Rubel earned his first Test cap in the year of 2009 but has not lived up to the expectations, as he managed to pick up only 32 wickets from the 24 matches he has been a part of.

However, in a recent interview, the 27-year-old admitted to the fact that he has not done anything in his Test career thus far which he can boast about. He also claimed that he intends to make a mark in the longest format of the game in the upcoming Test series against Australia.
“I don’t have a good record in Test format. We have a Test series ahead against Australia. I would try to give my best, if I get opportunity to play. I shall try to improve by bowling figure in Test cricket. Also I would try to bowl and pick up wickets for the team whenever my captain feels the need of bringing me in the bowling attack.”
As far as One Day Internationals are concerned, Rubel has 93 wickets under his belt from 77 matches in the green and red colours of Bangladesh. He also has an impressive best bowling figure of 6/26 which came against New Zealand on October 29th, 2013.
