After a big delay of three hours, the play finally started at Warner Park in St. Kitts with the two teams finally getting a hand over their luggage and kits. After having a poor outing in the first T20I of the five-match series, West Indies got off to a dream start, in the second game against India, as the pacers dished out the Indian top order in nick of time.
Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav walked out to bat as the hosts won the toss and put the Men in Blue to bat first. India made a major change to their opening combination in this series so far as Suryakumar Yadav, a middle-order batter for the side, joined skipper Sharma in the opening slot. As it seemed to be working, India continued with a similar strategy.
McCoy started with the attack and got off to a flying start by sending the Indian skipper back to the pavilion for a golden duck. The left-armer let out a roar as he positioned the ball around off-stump into the deck. Sharma tried to give the ball a lift, but it landed in the hands of Akeal Hosein, who timed his jump to perfection to catch the ball, at short third man.
McCoy bowled a wicket-maiden as No. 3 batter Shreyas Iyer could not score a run off the first five balls that he faced. Iyer and Surya got the game going in the next over as they hit Alzarri Joseph for one six each and bagged 17 runs off the over. McCoy returned for the second over of his spell, and the third overall, and scalped Yadav off the first delivery of the over.
Shreyas Iyer also nicks one behind
It was a length delivery pitched full outside off. As he tried to drive it, the ball landed in the wicketkeeper’s gloves after a thick outside edge. Iyer’s tenure on the field ended when Joseph took over the ball for his second over of the spell. An extra bounce off the delivery gave the bowler an advantage as Devon Thomas made no mistake behind the stumps.
Iyer failed to get the advantage of that extra bounce as the ball got a thick edge and the West Indies wicketkeeper caught it behind. Iyer was very disappointed with the dismissal as this surely wasn’t a ball to get out on. A big mistake by the batter caused a collapse in the batting lineup as the top-order crumbled like a cookie and the hosts picked up three wickets in the powerplay. Even after losing three wickets in the powerplay, India ended up scoring 56 runs.
Good start here from WI thats the competitive stuff we need and this teams got it. Should be yet another thrilling middle order onslaught from India! @RishabhPant17 @hardikpandya7 @DineshKarthik @ShreyasIyer15 #WIvIND

India's recent batting approach in T20Is needs a BazBall type word too.

Shreyas Iyer is an IPL level player who's been completely overhyped.
Basically Riyan Parag with better PR and tik tok videos. #WIvIND

How many precious opportunities are we gonna waste on this dancing queen before realising he is shit against fast bowling, give these opportunities to players who have a chance to get into that WC squad.
If they are looking at Shreyas Iyer for WC then we are doomed.😔😑#WIvIND
