Ruturaj Gaikwad shares 'how it started vs how it's going' meme featuring MS Dhoni
Playing with the former Indian captain and modern-day great MS Dhoni was surreal for Gaikwad.
The right-handed swashbuckling batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad has been a revelation for the three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who otherwise had a forgettable run in the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). The MS Dhoni-led squad underperformed in all three facets of the game and thus were the first team to get out from the race for the playoffs. This was the first time in the history of the Yellow Army that they didn’t qualify for the second stage of the league.
However, the Super Kings finished the season in style as they registered victory in their last three games on a trot against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). They are placed at the seventh position in the points table with 12 points in 14 fixtures.
One of the prime reasons for CSK’s success at the fag end of the T20 extravaganza is the scintillating form of the opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad. Gaikwad had an underwhelming start in IPL 2020 as he could manage only 5 runs in the first three games, including two ducks. As a result, the batsman was dropped from the playing XI and only got a chance after the franchise lost all the hopes of qualification.
Ruturaj Gaikwad reminisces pleasant memories with MS Dhoni
Ruturaj made most of the opportunities provided to him and didn’t commit his previous mistakes again. In his last three games, the 23-year-old was phenomenal with the willow as smashed 65*, 72 and 62*. His solid performance ensured that the team won these three games. Also, he became the only batsman in IPL 2020 to win the Man of the Match Award for three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, playing with the former Indian captain and modern-day great MS Dhoni was surreal for Gaikwad. On November 4, the young gun took to his official Instagram handle to join the “how it started, how it’s going” trend. Sharing pictures with Dhoni, Ruturaj showered praises of the veteran and revealed how it was a dream come true moment for him to be playing with MS.
“How it started, How it’s going..2016-2020 October 2016 I met him for the first time fractured my finger during my debut Ranji game,He was the mentor of Jharkhand ..And he himself came and asked me about how I am!! October 2020..3 low scores,he himself came up and talked about life!! Fortunate to be able to share the dressing room with him.. And more than a dream to share the 22 yards with him and Finishing things off!” Gaikwad captioned his post.
