Rwanda cricket captain Eric Dusingizimana creates a Guinness record

Rwandan cricket team captain Eric Dusingizimana broke the Guinness record of batting for the most number of hours in the nets. Eric batted for 51 hours in the nets between May 11 to May 13.

He was batting for a cause of raising money to built the first ever international ground in Rwanda. Rwanda Cricket Board shared a picture of Dusingizimana batting in the nets.

Eric Dusingizimana has also asked the President of the country Paul Kagame and tweeted to him before starting the record winning event, to bowl a few deliveries at him, but he did not.

“@PaulKagame i’ll be attemptin 2 set a new Guinness World Record of longest batting 51hr from 11-13 May @petitstade, great if you bowled at me,” he tweeted.

The record of batting for the most hours in the nets was previously held by an Indian player named Virag Mare, who set the record of batting for 50 hours in the nets.

Ahead of this record, English duo Dave Newman and Richard Wells had the record to their names, batting for 48 hours.

It will be interesting to see whether the Guinness record creating achievement will present Eric Dusingizimana the amount he is expecting, to built an international cricket stadium. The Rwanda Cricket Association is the governing body that controls their cricket. Their headquarters is situated at the country capital Kigali.
