SA vs IND: Virat Kohli left frustrated on Mayank Agarwal's lack of awareness while stopping boundary

Virat Kohli is among the most animated cricketers going around in the world and he can be tough on his players sometimes as he sets very high standards. The Indian skipper was disappointed with Mayank Agarwal’s effort to stop a boundary as the latter failed to judge the rope near him. Agarwal did all the hard yards by putting in an excellent chase to the boundary rope but could not get the job done in the end.

Keegan Petersen’s backfoot punch off the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah flew through the off-side region and Agarwal had done really well to get closer to the ball. Despite putting in the slide, the opener delayed releasing the ball and he ended up touching the rope with the ball in hand. Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar in the commentary box wasn’t impressed with the effort as well.

Kohli immediately showed out his frustration by waving both his hands up after the ball had touched the boundary lines and Gavaskar on air agreed with the Indian captain’s disappointment. Gavaskar noted that Agarwal had plenty of time to flick it back inside the boundary rope which did not happen. South Africa on the other hand has been batting really well with Petersen bringing up his second half-century of the series.

“He could have easily flicked it away, no wonder the captain is not very happy,”

The Indian bowlers fought back really well after the lunch session and have already picked up three important wickets. Umesh Yadav bowled a peach of a delivery to get Keshav Maharaj in the morning while he backed it with an excellent delivery to dismiss Rassie van der Dussen as well. Mohammed Shami has chipped in now with two wickets towards the end of the second session to leave South Africa at 167 for 6 at the 59th over mark. India will need to bat well in the second innings as the game still is in the hosts’ favor.
