SA20 Squads 2025: Complete Team and Player List for SA20 2025

The third edition of the SA20 will begin on January 9 and 100 days prior to that, Cricket South Africa (CSA) hosted the auction in Cape Town. A total of 188 players were available, out of which, 115 cricketers were of South Africa. Several key players such as Ben Stokes, Kane Williamson, Liam Livingstone and Rashid Khan among others were already signed ahead of the auction as only a handful of them found a new home.

South Africa international Reeza Hendricks emerged as the costliest player of the SA20 auction. MI Cape Town were in battle with Pretoria Capitals for a long time before the prior broke the bank to sign him for Rand 4.3 million. They also went on to buy Colin Ingram among the batter’s set.

Pretoria Capitals meanwhile signed Marques Ackerman for Rand 800,000. The 28-year-old played 56 T20 matches and scored 1039 runs at a strike rate of 125.03. Capitals also signed Evin Lewis in the Express round for Rand 1.5 million. The veteran West Indies batter is a T20 specialist, having scored 6306 runs in 237 T20 games at a strike rate of 143.64.

Defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape meanwhile strengthened their bowling unit by signing England international Richard Gleeson for Rand 2.3 million. They also signed South African pacer Okuhle Cele in the auction. Bowling coach Dale Steyn was delighted to have him on the board and expressed the same on X.

Joburg showed interest for Evan Jones in the Express round and signed him for Rand 175,000. They also signed New Zealand all-rounder Doug Bracewell for the same price in the auction. He has played 98 T20 matches in his career and picked up 103 wickets at an average of 24.72. He also has 1258 runs to his name in the shortest format. Joburg also signed Wihaan Lube for the same amount in the auction. 

Paarl Royals meanwhile signed keeper-batter Rubin Hermann. They otherwise had a quiet day in the auction. Lastly, Durban Super Giants signed Shamar Joseph for Rand 425,000.

Among top cricketers, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma went unsold in the auction. Sri Lanka international Kamindu Mendis, who is in phenomenal form at the moment too couldn’t draw the attention of the franchises. The likes of Martin Guptill, Josh Hull and Josh Little went unsold as well.
