Sabbir Rahman is slowly becoming a popular name in Bangladeshi cricket. His aggression, or perhaps the excess of it, in the ongoing BPL season has caused him a lot of problems. The Bangladeshi player is known to carry his heart on his sleeve. Recently, he was slapped with a heavy 30 per cent fine from his BPL contract fees for disciplinary breach.
Rahman, who plays for Rajshahi Kings, was apparently been fined for an off-field altercation with Mohammad Shahzad. “A Governing Council investigation has found both players guilty of serious off-field disciplinary breaches during the current tournament,” a BCB press release had read, Rahman recently uploaded a video on Facebook to plead innocent.
In a very emotional message, Rahman asked his fans if they feel that he can do any such offense. “I want to give a message to my fans regarding some personal matters of mine. Recently, some allegations have been raised against me among the media and Facebook. As a fan, do you really believe I am capable of such acts?” he said.
He further said that there are people who ask him for pictures. If the people end up misusing them, how is he responsible in any way, he asked. “Look, I have many fans – be it girls, boys, young and old. I can’t deny anyone who want to take pictures with me. I often go to restaurants or shopping malls or to see films, many times the fans ask me to take a picture with them. Sometimes I have to take single pictures with them upon requests. Then, these pictures are uploaded on Facebook or social media. If any person misuses the pictures, is it my fault? I don’t think so,” mentioned Sabbir Rahman.
Lastly, Rahman asked his fans to share the video if they feel he is innocent. He promised to perform better for the team in the days to come. Rahman is the only centurion in this edition of the Bangladesh Premier League.
“If you believe I am capable of such acts then I have nothing to say. But if you believe I am innocent then please share the video. I am urging everyone to pray for me so that I can perform better for you. Thank you,” conceded Sabbir Rahman.
