Sachin: A billion dreams sees a dip in box office collections
On Monday, the movie saw a slight dip with a total earning of INR 4.2 crore.
The highly-anticipated biopic of the legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar saw a grand opening day after the release. The movie, titled, ‘Sachin: A billion dreams’, released on May 26 across 2400 cinema screens. The biopic released in five languages in India. The movie takes the fans to a journey of 24 years of Sachin Tendulkar’s playing career.
His services to the game of cricket in India remain unmatched. Needless to say, there was a lot of hype and build up to the movie before the release. If some fans are to be believed, the movie has lived up to the expectations and give an emotional flashback tour to all the fans. On the other hand, some critics believed that the movie did not give enough insights to the life of the little master.
On the commercial front, the movie did an excellent job as it garnered INR 8.4 crore on the opening day. The box office collections on the opening day saw the movie land up in the list of top grossers on the opening day in the calendar year of 2017. The year of 2017 has seen some blockbuster releases such as Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees, and Akshay Kumar starrer Jolly LLB 2.
Amidst this, if the biopic of Sachin managed to make it to the list without any Bollywood star cast, then it certainly speaks volumes about the fan following of the maestro. On the second day, the movie made INR 9.2 crore and then aggregated 10.25 crore on Sunday. The cumulative total saw the movie with INR 27 crore to their name in the first weekend of the release.
Dip after the weekend
On Monday, the movie saw a slight dip with a total earning of INR 4.2 crore. On the following day, on Tuesday, the movie has seen a further dip with earnings of only INR 3.5 crore to their earnings. At present, the movie stands with a total earning of INR 35.75 crore in all the five languages of release in the Indian business.
