‘Sachin-Sachin’ chants at the screening of Sachin Tendulkar’s biopic for armed forces
'Sachin: A billion dreams' is all set to hit the theatres on May 26, 2017.
Ever since the news of a film on the life of India’s most loved son, Sachin Tendulkar broke out, the entire nation has been eagerly waiting to witness it. ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ will not only provide an insight into his cricketing journey but also to his personal life revealing different aspects which have never been heard or seen before. Recently the batting maestro conducted a special screening of this much-awaited film for the Indian Armed Forces personnel at the Indian Air Force Auditorium in New Delhi.
This special screening was carried out in the esteemed presence of Air Chief Marshal B S Dhanoa and other personnel along with their families from the Indian Air Force, Indian Army and Indian Navy. Sachin’s wife Anjali Tendulkar was also present at the screening. The master was felicitated with a memento by Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa.
Sachin personally also went on to meet and greet the families of the Armed Forces personnel who were present on the occasion. The movie received a standing ovation from the gathering and was followed by “Sachin Sachin” chants from those present.
Talking about the film on Sachin’s life, Air Chief Marshal said, “It was a wonderful film. Having joined the Air Force before Sachin started playing cricket, I have seen his whole career and it is really very inspiring.”
He also said that the movie will be releasing on a very significant day since May 26 was also the day on which Air Operations commenced during the Kargil conflict.
The Air Chief Marshal recalled that he was posted in Srinagar during the war like situation in 1999 when India defeated Pakistan in the World Cup match at Old Trafford, England, and how amazing they all felt during that time.
Sachin expressed his gratitude towards the armed forces:
Sachin thanked the Indian Armed Force personnel and their family members for attending the special screening of his movie and said, “It was on this very same podium that I was made a Honorary Group Captain of the Indian Air Force.”
“When I finally agreed to the film after a lot of convincing from my producer, I was clear in my mind that if I do this movie the first viewing has to be for the Indian Armed Forces,” Sachin said.
He also thanked the Indian Armed Forces for protecting the country day in and out and allowing him to fulfil his dream of holding the World Cup in his hands. “I am standing in front of you on behalf of a billion plus people of this country to thank you for your contribution for keeping the country safe. You are the real heroes,” he said.
