Australia’s veteran Shane Warne, who redefined spin bowling like never before, showered praises on two of the legendary batsmen of the 90s namely India’s Sachin Tendulkar and West Indies great Brian Lara. The two battles – Warne vs Tendulkar and Warne vs Lara – used to ooze class and were the most anticipated in the cricket fraternity.
Acknowledging Tendulkar and Lara as two of the best batsmen of his time, Warne admitted that there were days when the two smashed him all over the park, but a few times he was also successful in taking their wickets.
Sachin Tendulkar is the highest run-scorer in the history of the gentleman’s game with about 34,357 runs in 664 matches including 100 international centuries. West Indies Brain Lara was also one of the finest talents of the cricketing world as he has 11,953 runs in the longest format of the game along with smashing 10,450 runs in 299 ODIs. Lara also holds the record of being the only cricketer to have scored 400 runs in a Test inning.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Sportskeeda’s Facebook page, the spin wizard named Tendulkar and Lara as the finest batsmen to have graced the gentleman’s game. Shane also admitted that he loved bowling to both the batsmen and they had a healthy competition between them.
“I think, though, in my era of cricket, there were two players that stood out and that was Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. I think those two players were the best two batsmen of my time and two of the greatest batsmen that have ever played the game.” the brand ambassador and mentor of IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) said.
“So I love bowling to those guys. You know, some days they’d smash me all over the park or most days, but some days I get them out too,” Warne added.
Shane Warne is regarded as one of the most lethal bowlers of all time. The right-arm leg spinner is backed by stellar records as he picked 708 wickets in 145 fixtures at an economy of 2.65 in the longest format of the game followed by 293 ODI wickets in 194 games at an economy of 4.25. He also occupies the second position on the list of leading wicket-takers in international cricket.
