Sachin Tendulkar, the former Indian cricketer, has been a busy man over the last few days. The veteran has been trying his heart out in helping the ones, who are affected by the massive coronavirus outbreak. The COVID-19 cases in India have nearly reached 60,000 with almost 2,000 people losing their lives. Around 18,000 people have recovered though.
The legendary batsman has now donated an undisclosed amount to help 4,000 underprivileged people, including children from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) schools in the grave situation. He also dropped a tweet to send his best wishes, hoping for their well-being.
“Best wishes to team Hi5 for your efforts in supporting families of daily wage earners,” Tendulkar’s tweet read. The organization didn’t forget to thank Sachin either.
“Thanks @sachin_rt for proving once again that #sports encourages compassion! Your generous donation towards our #COVID19 fund enables us to financially aid 4000 underprivileged people, including children from @mybmc schools. Our budding sportspersons thank you, Little Master!”

Sachin Tendulkar lending his helping hand
Tendulkar recently donated INR 25 lakhs each to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in order to help the needy in desperate times. Earlier, he also promised to bear the cost of feeding 5,000 people for a month in a couple of areas in Mumbai. Back in April, he also got a chance to interact with Narendra Modi through an online meeting.
The PM talked to 40 elite sportspersons of the country. He also talked to Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju about his personal experience during this phase. “I had an opportunity to speak with Narendra Modi, Kiren Rijiju and other sportspersons about our personal views and experiences of how we have been dealing with the lockdown,” Sachin was quoted as saying in a statement.
Among cricketers, who attended the meetings were Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Yuvraj Singh and Sachin himself. At the present point in time, India is going through a lockdown period until May 17. It started in the last week of March and it’s not known when it will end. In the meantime, there’s no signs of the death tolls and COVID cases going down.
