Sachin Tendulkar has checked off almost every box – a scintillating career as a cricketer is mentoring a side Mumbai Indians and has been able to get excellent results, has an autobiography and a biopic. ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’. However, the only task left for Sachin was perhaps lending his voice in the commentary box. The ongoing ICC Champions Trophy though will mark that box as well for the Little Master.
Comm box for Sachin Tendulkar?
Tendulkar will make his debut in the commentary box for the much anticipated India v Pakistan game on Sunday. He is set to be a part of the panel of commentators on Star Sports for the high-octane encounter. According to reports, this will be a one-off assignment for the Master Blaster, as he has been roped in by the broadcaster exclusively for the match.
He is set to be the surprise element of the match that will enthrall crowds at Edgbaston on June 4. As of now, Tendulkar is expected to be part of the Hindi commentary box alone. The ICC, which handles the English commentary on world feed, has not contracted him.
As a result, Sachin will join a panel of stars, some of whom are his former teammates. Sunil Gavaskar will be the leading figure in the Hindi commentary box. Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag will also be covering the game, while Ganguly will be doing English commentary as well. Saba Karim is also in England for the job, and a couple of Pakistani commentators are also expected to be lending their voices.
A Star source has however mentioned that he will not be live on air. “He will only be part of the experts’ panel and will not commentate live.”
Sachin Tendulkar was earlier seen as an expert for a news channel during the 2015 World Cup in Australia.
