British journalist Piers Morgan has been in the middle of cricket-related controversies from time to time. He had a duel with former India opener Virender Sehwag on Twitter over the loss of the Indian women’s team in the final of the ICC World Cup in 2017. Sehwag had given a befitting reply to Morgan on that occasion. And now, Morgan found himself in the middle of another Twitter exchange with the great Sachin Tendulkar although things didn’t turn sour this time.
Recently, Tendulkar turned 46 and Morgan posted a picture of a selfie featuring former cricketers Brian Lara, Muttiah Muralidharan, Kevin Pietersen and himself along with the Master Blaster himself. Morgan also called himself a “cricketing legend” even though he is far from being one and tried to pull the former Indian batsman leg by captioning the picture: “Happy Birthday to the great @sachin_rt – whose career highlight was surely this selfie with four other cricketing legends?! @BrianLara @KP24 #Murali.”

But Tendulkar, who had a clean career over a period of 24 years and had allowed only his bat talk, decided to give the journalist a befitting reply. He told Morgan that he agreed with him but the only thing is that the combined tweets by the four cricketers in the photo could not match his record of 123k tweets (now 124k).
Totally agree @piersmorgan 😉! But @BrianLara, @KP24
, #Murali and I combined could never MATCH your record of 123K (and still counting ..) tweets🙌— Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) May 1, 2019
If Morgan wanted to become a member of the elite cricketers’ club, the former batting maestro pinpointed him what he does best: tweeting and his reply had Pietersen, the most active among the four former cricketers on Twitter, in splits.

Tendulkar had made his international debut in 1989 against Pakistan at the age of 16 and went on to dominate world cricket till he retired in 2013 at the age of 40. Overall, Tendulkar scored 34k international runs with 100 hundreds and 164 fifties. Lara was another most prolific contemporaries of Tendulkar who scored 22k runs with 53 tons and 111 half-centuries.
With the ICC World Cup not too far away, more such funny episodes are expected to unfold in the next few weeks.
