Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has opined that the Indian Premier League (IPL) has made the India players ready for international cricket. The former India batsman has said that the T20 league has given the players the platform to prepare themselves for international cricket. Tendulkar’s comments came after Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav made an impressive start to their careers in international cricket.

Both the batsmen made their T20I debut during the second game of the ongoing five-match series against England. On his debut, Kishan opened the innings and took the England bowlers to the cleaners. The southpaw slammed 56 off 32 balls to help India register an eight-wicket win. Suryakumar, on the other hand, did not get a chance to bat in that game.

The right-handed batsman was then dropped from the playing eleven for the third game before being recalled for the fourth one. He batted at number three and made the most of the opportunity. The Mumbai star hit the first ball of his international career for a six and went on to score 57 off 31 balls. Suryakumar’s knock helped India register a series-levelling 8-run win.

Both Surya and Ishan are ready to play: Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar was all praise for Kishan and Suryakumar’s display and stated that the duo are ready to play at the highest stage of the game. He then spoke about the importance of IPL in getting the players ready for international cricket. Tendulkar further added that the IPL has ensured that the Indian team have a bench strength of world-class players.

“Yeah, both Surya and Ishan are ready to play, because you know, I have always felt that IPL’s introduction has helped players,” Tendulkar, who is captaining the India Legends in the ongoing Road Safety World Series said as quoted by Sports Cafe.

“That’s the only reason I am saying that both these guys are ready to play for India and that just shows the bench strength of our team, it is really strong. So that’s the beauty of our cricket now, that there are a number of players, who are ready to go out. Because earlier when we played, I hadn’t played against a Wasim (Akram), when we played in Australia, I hadn’t played a (Sharne) Warne or (Craig) McDermott or Merv Hughes. We went there and we had to figure out what has happened,” he added.
