Sachin Tendulkar has had a remarkable 24-year international career from 1989-2013. For his notable achievement in this phenomenal sport, he received Bharat Ratna from the then-president of India Pranab Mukherjee. All these things became possible due to his perseverance, diligence, and unwavering support from his family. Ramesh Tendulkar was born in Alibag, Maharashtra, and completed his primary and secondary education at Konkan Education Society, Alibag. After completing his studies, he also joined Kirti M. Doongusree College as a professor in the 1960s. Apart from that, he was a renowned Marathi novelist and poet as well.
In his life, Ramesh married twice due to his first wife’s death. From his first partner, he left behind three children Nitin Tendulkar, Ajit Tendulkar, and Savita Tendulkar. After the demise of his first wife, he married Rajni, the sister of his deceased spouse. From Rajni, he left a kid whom we know as Sachin Tendulkar. On May 19, 1999, Ramesh passed away after suffering a heart attack. At the time of his death, his youngest son Sachin was representing India in the 1999 World Cup.
Rajni Tendulkar is a former LIC agent who worked in the foreign department of LIC’s Santacruz wing. Despite her son’s impactful cricket career, Rajni could’ve quit her job but she didn’t do so and worked till her retirement. From 1992 to 1994, she took leave due to facing difficulty in walking. In 2013, she watched her son playing the 200th Test match at the stadium, however, before that game, she watched Sachin on her TV screen but never at the stadium.
Nitin Tendulkar is the eldest child of the late Ramesh Tendulkar and the eldest brother of Sachin Tendulkar. Unlike Sachin, Nitin lives a low-key life and is rarely seen in public. However, not many people know that the God of Cricket’s eldest sibling works for Air India and has written a few poems as well.
In Sachin’s glorious cricketing career, Ajit Tendulkar was a pivotal character as he was the one who spotted his talent and supported him a lot to succeed as a cricketer. In Sachin’s childhood, Ajit took his younger brother to cricket coach Ramakant Achrekar.
Sachin has an elder sister as well whose name is Savita. Every year, Savita celebrates the festival of Rakshabandhan with her brother Sachin Tendulkar. Anjali Tendulkar, the wife of Sachin Tendulkar, is a paediatrician and philanthropist. In 1990, she saw Sachin at the Mumbai International Airport. During the book launch of ‘Playing It My Way’ in 2014, Anjali said that she had no idea about the rising star but her friend wanted Anjali to meet Sachin. Looking at the teenage cricketer, she got mesmerised by his looks. After that meeting, she got Sachin’s number and started having conversations with him. Later, the couple met each other at a common friend’s place and also started dating each other.
On May 24, 1995, she tied the knot with the then-22-year-old cricketer in Worli, Mumbai. She is six years older than her husband Sachin, who was born on April 24, 1973. After her marriage, she quit her job to give time to her family. Nowadays, she is also the co-founder of SRT Sports Management Private Limited and Sachin Tendulkar Foundation.
In 1997, Sara Tendulkar was born to Sachin Tendulkar and Anjali Tendulkar after more than two years of marriage. The cricketing maestro’s daughter did her schooling at Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai. She also has a medical degree from the University College London in the United Kingdom.
On Instagram, she remains active and has 2.6 million followers. She often attracts the limelight due to her luxurious lifestyle. In 2022, there were reports that Sara could make her Bollywood debut opposite Shahid Kapoor. However, her father Sachin Tendulkar termed the rumours ‘baseless’
Arjun Tendulkar is the youngest child of Sachin and Anjali. He was born on September 24, 1999, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Junior Tendulkar has followed the path of his father as he is looking to become a successful cricketer in the future. In July 2018, he made his Under-19 debut against Sri Lanka. On January 15, 2021, he made his domestic T20 debut for Mumbai against Haryana in the 2020-21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Currently, he plays for the Goa cricket team in the domestic circuit after quitting Mumbai in August 2022. In the Indian Premier League, he has been a part of Mumbai Indians (MI) since 2021.
