After five shots at the World Cup, Sachin Tendulkar finally managed to lay hands on the coveted trophy in the sixth attempt at his hometown back in 2011. He is one of those few players who suffered the pain of coming close and remaining far for twenty years and hence, he knows the value of the ultimate prize more than anyone else.
The ICC World Cup is just a few months away from now and the whole world is ticking the clock down. A lot of cricketers are putting everything on the line to try and win a place in the World Cup squad as it is a chance that comes only once in four years. The Master Blaster had a precious message for all these cricketers.
Tendulkar stated the importance of communication between players and team management and also noted that it’s the player’s responsibility to take care of his injuries. He advised all the cricketers to assess their fitness condition before taking part in the IPL 2019, which is scheduled right before the World Cup.
“It is the responsibility of every player to take care of his injuries and there should be proper communication with the team-management, in case there is a risk of the injury getting aggravated in the future,” he stated as quoted by Zee News.
India is well prepared for the World Cup
According to the living legend, the Men in Blue are well prepared to get into the greatest competition of the game with a perfect blend of youth and experience. He also suggested that the whole team should put their best foot forward and not expect Kohli to do the job all the time, which has been the case in recent big fixtures for India.
“India is well prepared for the 2019 World Cup in England. We enjoy a very good chance to lift the cup considering the presence of quality players and several senior cricketers in the squad as well.
“However, it should not be the case that only one player is deemed responsible for leading the side on to the World Cup. Virat Kohli performed exceptionally well in the recent series against England, but the team failed to contribute effectively as a whole, resulting in poor results,” Tendulkar concluded.
