However, he also revealed the cheeky moment when he overcame the tactics of Hemang Badani in that game due to his knowledge about Tamil.

Mumbai has produced some of the superstars of the Indian cricket so far. Tendulkar, Madhav Apte, Ajit Wadekar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Sudhir Naik, Sanjay Manjrekar and Amol Muzumdar are few of those. All these cricketers were present during the function arranged ahead of the landmark game of the team on Thursday. Everyone shared their moments at the event and also spoke about the domination of the team over the years in the competition.

Sachin recalls the game against Tamil Nadu in 1999

The batting legend Sachin Tendulkar recalled the semi-final of 1999-2000 season against Tamil Nadu and termed it as the memorable one. He had struck a sensational double hundred in the first innings and had helped the team overtake the score of 485 posted by the side by Hemang Badani. He also explained how he overcame the challenges during his match-winning knock.

“I will say it was the 1999-2000 semifinal against Tamil Nadu. I started to stand outside the crease and Hemang Badani will tell the bowler from point in Tamil that I was standing outside. I then went back into the crease when the bowler started his run-up. After the match, I told Badani that I understand Tamil”, he said during the function at Mumbai CA’s Sharad Pawar academy at the Bandra-Kurla complex.

“If I say it’s unbelievable, it’s an understatement,” he spoke of the winning percentage of Mumbai being 47% after 499 Ranji Trophy matches.
