MS Dhoni is currently captaining the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
MS Dhoni was an inspirational leader for India having racked up a plethora of records and achievements over the course of his career. He is currently the only cricketer to have led his team to glory on all three ICC events- The Champions Trophy in 2013, the Cricket World Cup in 2011 and the World T20 in 2007. Such has been his impact as the captain that Virat Kohli asks for his pieces of advice during international matches.
The 36-year old passed the Test leadership baton to Virat in 2014 after the Melbourne-Test against Australia. In January 2017, he also resigned as the skipper of the ODI and T20Is and thereafter, Kohli led the team during England’s tour of India. Recently, in a chat show by Gaurav Kapoor named Breakfast with Champions, Sachin Tendulkar shared his experience with MSD earlier in the career of the keeper batsman.

“Whenever I used to be fielding in the slips, I would be discussing with him, constantly, about the fielding positions. I would place my opinions and then he would place his and it was during these interactions that I picked.” Sachin remarked.
In an earlier interaction with the media, Dhoni mentioned that he wasn’t a part of the meeting where he was made the captain for the maiden occasion. Moreover, he also remarked that his honesty and knowledge of the game as a factor in his selection as the captain. He was made the skipper in the ICC World T20 in South Africa and he didn’t look back ever since.
Though he isn’t the leader of the national team anymore, Dhoni is plying his trade as the skipper of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise has benefitted from his leadership skills ever since the opening season and he hasn’t disappointed even this time around as they are standing on the brink of qualification for the playoffs.
